We're
excited about a project we just finished. It's an experimental basket weighing
in at 36 lbs. This 'basket' carries 26 gallons of propane in a dual-chamber
tank. An extra tank can easily be added to the area under your feet.
We built
this basket using a standard Thunder and Colt / Lindstrand / Cameron burner
frame and uprights. It includes seat belts and harnesses to strap you in.
Instruments can easily be attached. It comfortably seats two people. The
basket is built with the intent to store your envelope in the leg/foot
area. It's small enough to fit into the back of a compact pickup.
Skids
were attached to the bottom of the basket to allow it to sit upright, and
give the basket a chance to 'dig' in on landing. We attached pockets
to 'our' upright covers for a fire extinguisher, radios, strikers,
tools, and anything else we carry with us. A basket pad could easily be
attached to the inside of the front wall to carry baggies and extra equipment.
Is your
basket starting to show its age? Baskets can be built or rebuilt. Complete
wicker replacement for sport baskets start at $1500.
This
is our latest basket refurbish. New components included floor, wicker as
needed, tank and accessories straps, bottom handle rope, and rawhide. The
suede was re-dyed. Total cost for the refurbish was $1600.
This
basket was built by BRET for an overseas ride operator. Wicker replacement
for ride baskets start at under $3000.
Custom
experimental baskets and gas baskets can be built to your design.
