| The standard fan guards in use today seem to be the wire cage style, and while the enclosed housing may be a safer alternative, it is not really cost effective. BRET recommends that an enclosing shroud be used to contain broken propellers. The shroud can be plastic, fiberglass, or web style. |

That said, we want to recommend that all fan guards are a consumable, and should be replaced as soon as the first weld breaks, or it shows any sign of failure. BRET does not sell or recommend any specific style guard, but warns that it is the last safety on the fan, take care of it! |
